Learning Beyond the Classroom
One of the biggest benefits of homeschooling is the freedom to turn everyday experiences into learning opportunities. During Homeschool Day, students can participate in educational programming designed to connect classroom concepts with the real world.
The History Tour explores the story of Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and the evolution of the amusement industry. Students will gain a deeper appreciation for how amusement parks have changed over time and the role they continue to play in communities today.
For students who enjoy math and science, the STEM Tour offers a chance to see these subjects in action. Using the rides and attractions around the Pier as teaching tools, students can explore concepts like speed, motion, rotations, and even budgeting. It's a practical and engaging way to demonstrate how STEM principles apply to experiences they already enjoy.
To extend the learning experience, each student will receive a grade-level STEM workbook to take home.
